love this time of year as it allows us to take stock of all the things that matter most. gathering around the table with friends and family tops the list. a very happy thanksgiving to you and yours

today's post was inspired by an afternoon walk alongside a row of gingko trees, the canopy appeared full yet the trees had dropped enough leaves to create a thick carpet of yellow and gold on the sidewalk and street.  i stopped to snap a photo as other people crossed the street to do the same and the passing cars nearly slowed to a stop to take a glance at the spectacular display.

daylight savings time is a single hour of change that has sent my internal clock into hibernation mode. as soon as the sun has set i am thinking about finding the nearest cozy place to curl up for the night.

i am easily overwhelmed anytime i need to add something to the usual daily juggle. the funny thing is that the addition of another 'something' to the daily load seems to happen, um, daily. so the title of the book "the simple home: the luxury of enough" by architect sarah nettleton inspired the search for simple and luxurious images as a calming counterpoint to my daily routine. simple is a true luxury. wishing you a luxuriously simple weekend.

what richness these peter lane pieces bring to the space they occupy, they make me think of skeletal structures or matisse cut outs, a kind of modern antiquity. happy friday

fall is here bringing gorgeous color change which i love even though i am always soothed by simple, fresh green. have a refreshing weekend.

we have many household projects looming, one of which is the master bath.  leaking pipes in the wall are forcing our hand but we are still in the early stages trying to pin down details like a walk-in shower or a tub or both...hmmm

these charming and beautiful sculptures are at once graceful and whimsical, i love their elongated forms which remind me of our puppy's downward dog stretch each morning as he greets us.
